Fire on catamaran at Paphos harbour quickly extinguished

Date:

A fire erupted on Sunday afternoon on a catamaran moored at the southern breakwater of Paphos small harbour.

Fire Service spokesman Andreas Kettis reported that crew members from a neighbouring boat put out the flames using extinguishers before firefighters reached the scene. Fire crews carried out only an inspection.

The fire started in the vessel’s electrical distribution panel and transformer next to the batteries. No one was on board at the time.

Initial findings point to an electrical fault as the cause.
