Troodos landslide cleanup starts today after heavy rain

Date:

Public Works Department crews begin clearing mountain roads in the Troodos area Monday morning after weekend storms triggered rockfalls and mudslides.

The Troodos landslide cleanup targets five routes:

  • Pedoulas–Kykkos
  • Kykkos–Gerakies
  • Kykkos–Kampos
  • Kalopanagiotis–Orkontas
  • Pachyammos–Pyrgos

Heavy rainfall Sunday night deposited rocks and soil, making the roads dangerous. As of 20:00 Sunday, traffic remained hazardous.

Police urge drivers to stay cautious, reduce speed and obey all road signs in the Troodos area until the Troodos landslide cleanup finishes.
