41-year-old arrested for church theft in Nicosia

Police have arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with two separate burglary and theft cases under investigation in Nicosia.

According to police reports, on 8 November 2025, a house in Nicosia was broken into, and items including a watch and a handbag were stolen. Two days later, on 10 November, another burglary was reported — this time at a church in Nicosia, where votive offerings were taken from an icon.

During the investigation, evidence emerged linking the 41-year-old suspect to both incidents. He was located and arrested yesterday afternoon. A search of his home uncovered various pieces of jewellery and a quantity of methamphetamine.

The Nicosia CID and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) are continuing their investigations.
