Local showers in the mountains, cooler weather on Friday

Date:

Local showers in the mountains and a chance of isolated thunderstorms are expected on Thursday, according to the Meteorological Department, as a weak area of low pressure affects the region.

During the day, increased medium and high clouds will gradually give way to local cloud formations, which may bring isolated rain and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly over mountainous areas. In the event of a storm, hail is not ruled out. Light dust will also be present in the atmosphere at intervals.

Winds will initially be light to moderate, between north-easterly and south-easterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, later shifting to south-westerly to north-westerly by afternoon. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will rise to around 30°C inland, 28°C on the southern and eastern coasts, 27°C on the western and northern coasts, and 21°C in the higher mountains.

Tonight, low cloud cover is expected, with possible isolated showers in the west and north. Patchy fog may form in inland and eastern areas during the early morning hours. Winds will become light and variable, around 3 Beaufort, and the sea will remain calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to 15°C inland, 18°C on the coast and 11°C in the mountains.

On Friday, the weather will be partly cloudy at times, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Over the weekend, conditions will improve, remaining mostly clear, though some cloud build-up over the mountains may bring isolated rain in the afternoons.

Temperatures will fall on Friday to around or slightly above the seasonal average and remain stable over the weekend.
