Zakaki murder case: partner of victim remains in custody

Date:

New details have emerged in the ongoing investigation into the Zakaki murder case, shedding fresh light on the circumstances surrounding the death of a 32-year-old Filipino man found in the car park of an apartment block.

According to court testimony, the victim’s 26-year-old partner, who is currently in custody as a suspect, is pregnant. During a search of the couple’s apartment, investigators located a pair of scissors with a broken handle and traces of blood, which are now being examined by forensic experts.

Authorities have also collected a bloodstain from a wall behind a door, with scientific tests pending to determine whether it is connected to the Zakaki murder case.

Investigators believe the motive for the altercation that allegedly preceded the killing may be linked to the woman’s pregnancy. Evidence suggests that the suspect may have been involved in another relationship, which the victim reportedly discovered before an argument turned violent.

The suspect, who has not cooperated with police, was examined by state pathologist Angeliki Papetta. The examination found old abrasions on her elbow, in the presence of private pathologist Marios Matsakis.

The court is expected to decide on Friday whether the 26-year-old will remain in custody as the investigation continues.
