UK confirms H5N1 bird flu outbreak in southwestern England

The highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 virus was confirmed in poultry at a premises in southwestern England, the UK government said on Sunday.

A 3 km protection zone and 10 km surveillance zone have been declared around the premises near Exminster in Devon, the government said, adding that “all poultry on the premises will be humanely culled.”
