A new Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) at Larnaca General Hospital is set to begin operating for patients between 5–10 September, according to Health Minister Michalis Damianou. He stated that the facility will be officially handed over in the coming days.
Speaking after a visit to the hospital’s Fast Track Clinic, the Minister highlighted that the new A&E unit is significantly larger than the previous one—a major enhancement for public healthcare services in Larnaca.
“Our presence at the hospital today marks an important step forward in strengthening public health and easing the pressure on emergency departments,” Damianou said. He confirmed that Fast Track Clinics have now officially launched in Larnaca, Famagusta, and other cities.
“These clinics address long-standing concerns about excessive waiting times in emergency departments,” he noted. “It’s a problem we’ve discussed for years, and it’s finally being resolved to a large extent through the introduction of Fast Track Clinics.”
