Car fire in Famagusta under police investigation

A car fire in Famagusta district late on Wednesday night damaged a vehicle belonging to a 48-year-old woman, with police and the fire service now investigating the circumstances.

According to a police statement, the fire broke out shortly before 11:30pm on 27 August while the vehicle was parked in the yard of the woman’s home.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze. Police officers also conducted examinations in the area to secure evidence.

The car fire in Famagusta has prompted a joint investigation between the fire service and the police, who will carry out further tests today to establish the exact cause. Authorities have confirmed that the scene was placed under guard immediately after the incident.

The results of the investigation will determine whether the fire was accidental or deliberately set.
