Man rescued in critical state after snakebite and heatstroke

Date:

A man was rescued in critical condition after suffering a snakebite and heatstroke, according to an announcement by Civil Defence. Menelaos Stavrinides was located and saved following several hours of intensive search and rescue efforts.

In a post shared by Civil Defence, it was revealed that Stavrinides was found by a rescue team in a serious condition. He had reportedly been bitten by a snake and had also suffered from heatstroke due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures.

Civil defense urged citizens to exercise extreme caution when hiking, exercising, or spending time in nature — particularly in areas with dense vegetation.

Authorities also reminded the public that Cyprus is home to three species of venomous snakes, one of which is considered extremely dangerous to humans.
