Four arrested in Cyprus over kidnapping and assault case

Date:

Four people have been arrested in Cyprus over a kidnapping and assault case reported to have occurred on 13 August 2025 in the Famagusta district. The arrests follow an 18-year-old’s complaint to the police on 19 August, claiming he was locked in a flat and attacked by four individuals.

According to the young man, the suspects confined him in a room and physically assaulted him in various parts of his body. Following an investigation, police obtained evidence implicating four individuals aged 33, 22, 21, and 20. They were located in a flat in the Famagusta district and arrested under court-issued warrants.

Inside the same apartment, officers also found two 19-year-olds and a 23-year-old who, according to police investigations, were residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus.

During a search of the premises, police discovered a quantity of dry herbal cannabis and a device intended for drug use. The 33-year-old suspect allegedly admitted that both the drugs and the paraphernalia belonged to him.

All individuals have been taken into custody. The Famagusta CID is continuing its investigation in cooperation with the Drug Law Enforcement Unit and the Immigration Service.
