Teen arrested riding stolen motorcycle in Limassol

Date:

A Limassol teen motorcycle arrest took place late on Tuesday night after police intercepted a 16-year-old riding a stolen bike.

According to police, at around 10:30pm members of the “Z” unit in Limassol were on patrol in the Ayia Fyla area when they signalled a motorcyclist to stop for inspection. The rider ignored the call and attempted to escape, driving dangerously through the streets.

Police eventually managed to stop the motorcyclist, discovering that he was a 16-year-old minor with no driving licence or insurance certificate. Further checks revealed that the 125cc motorcycle had been reported stolen on 6 August, after being taken from a parked location in Limassol.

The 16-year-old was arrested for offences committed in flagrante and taken to the local police station, where his father was also called. He was later placed in custody pending further investigations into both traffic violations and theft-related offences.

The cases are being investigated by Limassol Traffic Police and the Central Police Station.
