We strongly condemn the provocative invasion by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and the head of the West Bank Settlements Council, along with a number of settlers, in the Tersela area south of Jenin. Their goal was to re-establish settlements in lands that were evacuated 20 years ago. This action deepens the exploitation of Palestinian lands for the expansion of Israeli settlements.
We are deeply concerned about the escalating invasions of Israeli officials into the occupied West Bank, including the recent meeting between the Israeli Prime Minister and the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in an Israeli settlement. We see this move as a reflection of Israeli arrogance and an ongoing attempt to annex the West Bank and East Jerusalem into the occupied territories, directly threatening the two-state solution.
We denounce the complicity of the international community for its silence in the face of these provocations, which encourages the Israeli occupation to continue its illegal actions, endangering the creation of an independent Palestinian state and the achievement of peace. We call on states and the international community to take their legal and political responsibilities and pressure the Israeli government to stop its criminal actions against the Palestinian people.
