Informational visit of new Egyptian Defense Attaché to JCC

Date:

As part of his assumption of duties in Cyprus, Egypt’s new Defence Attaché, Captain Mohamed Ghardia, paid an official visit to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) in Larnaca.

Captain Ghardia was accompanied by the outgoing Defence Attaché, Brigadier General Mohamed Abdelmaged. The visit was described as an introductory and informative meeting with the Cyprus authorities.

In a statement, the JRCC said that the Egyptian defence attaché in Cyprus was briefed on the structure and operation of the Republic of Cyprus’s search and rescue system. He was also informed about the centre’s role in potential humanitarian operations in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The JRCC, which operates under the Ministry of Defence, frequently engages in cooperation with neighbouring countries, particularly in the context of regional safety, humanitarian coordination, and maritime operations.

Such visits highlight the ongoing defence and civil protection collaboration between Cyprus and Egypt.
