Ridley Scott and Paul Mescal team up again after “Gladiator II”

Following their work on Gladiator II, director Ridley Scott and Paul Mescal are set to collaborate once more on a new film project.

Ridley Scott will direct The Dog Stars, a suspenseful thriller by Peter Heller, adapted by Mark L. Smith.

According to Variety, Paul Mescal is now in advanced negotiations to star in the film.

Scott is reportedly working with Steve Asbell and the team at 20th Century Studios on the project.

The plot follows a man living a solitary life on an abandoned airbase in Colorado with his dog and a tough former marine.

When an unnamed pandemic decimates the American population, the two men, despite their contrasting personalities, must find a way to cooperate to fend off potential intruders.

However, a random broadcast comes through the radio of a 1956 Cessna, sparking hope in the pilot that a better life exists beyond their limits. He risks everything to cross the point of no return, taking a leap for something better.

In a previous interview, Mescal praised Scott for Gladiator II: “There’s no better director to focus on the idea of audience entertainment than Ridley Scott,” he said. The release date for the upcoming film has not yet been announced.
