The flame of the 41st Athens Authentic Marathon was received in Marathon by the Executive Director of the Radisson Blu International Larnaca Marathon, Konstantinos Daltas.
According to a statement from the International Larnaca Marathon, the flame was handed over by the President of the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS), Sofia Sakorafa, and the Mayor of Marathon, Stergios Tsirkas.
The Mayor of Marathon and the President of SEGAS wished great success to the major event in Cyprus.
Mr Daltas referred to the strategic partnership between the two events, noting that this is highlighted by the fact that this year the Marathon flame will travel to only one country: Cyprus.
The flame will arrive in Larnaca on Friday, where, following a simple ceremony and torch relay, the cauldron will be lit at the Finikoudes area.
