Pyla attempted murder suspect still at large

Police are continuing investigations into the Pyla attempted murder that took place just after midnight on Monday, 14 July, targeting a 49-year-old man outside his home. The attacker remains unidentified and is currently on the run.

According to police sources, the victim had just returned home with his partner and her daughter when a hooded assailant opened fire in the courtyard of his house. The gunman fired two shots with a handgun before fleeing the scene.

The 49-year-old was shot in the leg and rushed by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital. Doctors confirmed a through-and-through wound to the lower right leg, and the man remains hospitalised.

Authorities are now analysing surveillance footage, eyewitness accounts, and forensic evidence collected at the scene in an effort to identify the suspect. Investigators are also reviewing the victim’s background and any potential motives.

So far, the motive remains unclear, and no arrests have been made.

The Pyla attempted murder has shaken the local community, with residents urging police to increase patrols in the area and provide updates on the suspect’s whereabouts.
