A 17-year-old boy is fighting for his life at Nicosia General Hospital after a violent assault in Ayia Napa early Wednesday morning, 2 July. The teen was attacked by a group of individuals while walking with a friend, according to a police statement.
The Cyprus Police Communications Branch confirmed that the Famagusta CID is investigating the case as a serious assault resulting in grievous bodily harm.
“Around 06:30am on Wednesday, police received a report of an injured person who was transferred by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital,” the statement said.
Preliminary testimony suggests the teenager was walking along Ayias Mavris Street with a friend when a group of unknown individuals attacked him without provocation. During the assault, the 17-year-old sustained a fractured jaw.
He remains intubated in critical condition, with medical teams closely monitoring his recovery.
Police have not yet confirmed any arrests, and investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for the violent attack.
