Larnaca and Paphos Airports surpass 4 million passengers

Cyprus airports set new record for January–May 2025 traffic

For the first time in history, passenger traffic at Larnaca and Paphos Airports has exceeded four million in the period from January to May 2025, according to a statement from the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Works. The total marks a 12.02% increase compared to the same period last year.

In May 2025 alone, the two airports handled 1,282,882 passengers, a rise of 12.47% compared to May 2024.

Larnaca Airport recorded the most significant growth, with a 19% increase in passenger numbers, while Paphos Airport saw a slight decline of 1.36% compared to last year.

Key markets and flight movements

Aircraft movements across both airports also rose by 10.25%, reaching 9,518 flights in the first five months of 2025. The Ministry highlighted Israel, the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, and Armenia as key source markets.

The biggest increases in flights and passengers at Larnaca Airport were on routes to:

  • Israel
  • Poland
  • United Kingdom
  • Germany
  • Armenia

At Paphos Airport, increases were seen on routes to:

  • United Kingdom
  • Jordan
  • Poland
  • Hungary
  • Germany

Routes showing a decline

Despite the overall growth, some destinations recorded drops in traffic. In Larnaca, these included:

  • France
  • Jordan
  • Norway
  • Switzerland
  • Belgium

In Paphos, declines were noted on routes from:

  • Greece
  • Romania
  • France
  • Estonia
  • Israel

The figures reflect a strong recovery in air travel demand, with Cyprus airports showing resilience and increasing international connectivity as the peak summer season approaches.
