Trump announces Tom Homan as “border czar” in new government

Date:

US President-elect Donald Trump announced on Sunday the return of Tom Homan, a staunch advocate of an extremely hard-line approach, to lead the federal agency responsible for border security and immigration (ICE).

“I am pleased to announce that former ICE Director and unwavering supporter of border control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump administration, where he will be in charge of our country’s borders (‘border czar’),” the Republican tycoon stated via Truth Social.

Homan, who served in the Trump administration for a year and a half during his first term, is also a candidate for the role of Secretary of Homeland Security.

Trump has made cracking down on illegal immigration a central feature of his campaign, promising mass deportations. He frequently praised Homan throughout the campaign, and Homan was often seen at campaign rallies.

In his post on Truth Social, Trump added that Homan will be responsible for the deportation of illegal immigrants.
