Ukraine drone attack was largest ever, says Zelensky

Date:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has hailed the latest Ukraine drone attack on Russian airfields as its largest military operation of the war so far.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today praised the “brilliant” outcome of a coordinated drone strike carried out by the country’s security services (SBU) against military airfields in Russia, stating that Ukraine had never before conducted an operation of such “scale”.

“A truly brilliant result. And an outcome achieved independently by Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote on the messaging platform Telegram, adding that the operation took over a year and a half to prepare. “This is our most far-reaching operation yet,” he stressed, noting that the agents involved had safely exited Russian territory in time.

Speaking later in his nightly video address, Zelensky revealed that 117 drones were used in the attack on the Russian bases. “Russia suffered very tangible losses- and rightly so,” he said.
