Man caught at Paphos Airport with suitcase full of gold

A 38-year-old man was arrested at Paphos Airport after authorities discovered a quantity of gold jewellery in his possession during a routine luggage check.

The incident occurred on 22 May 2025. According to police, the man claimed he owned a gold trading business and was transporting the jewellery for professional purposes within Cyprus.

However, he was unable to present adequate documentation to prove the legality of the items.

He was arrested under a court warrant and taken into custody. The jewellery was confiscated as evidence, and the case is being investigated by the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
