A weak high-pressure system and a warm air mass are affecting Cyprus, bringing soaring temperatures well above seasonal norms, according to the Meteorological Service.

Today’s weather will be mostly clear, with south-westerly to north-westerly winds ranging from light to moderate (3–4 Beaufort), becoming locally strong in the afternoon (4–5 Beaufort). The sea will be calm to slightly rough.

Today’s temperatures:
– 37°C inland

Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear, with occasional high clouds. Winds will initially be westerly to north-westerly (3–4 Beaufort), later becoming variable and light. Overnight temperatures will drop to 19°C inland and on the coasts, and 15°C in the mountains.

Looking ahead to Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the weather will remain mostly clear with increased high cloud cover at intervals. Dust is expected to enter the atmosphere from Sunday onwards, and concentrations may rise at times.

Temperatures will continue to climb, remaining significantly above average for the season.
