4-month-old baby found addicted to drugs in Greece

Police in Aigio arrested a couple in possession of one kilogram of heroin, and it was later discovered that their 4-month-old baby was addicted to drugs.

According to information from tempo24.news, the tragic development emerged when the infant boy was taken into custody by police and transferred to the University Hospital of Patras in Rio for medical examination and protective care.

The same source reports that the tests revealed the baby was dependent on narcotic substances, most likely due to breastfeeding from the mother, who is also believed to be addicted.

Today, the child’s parents are giving their depositions before the investigating magistrate in Aigio, following charges brought against them for a serious criminal offence related to drug trafficking.

It is noted that the foreign couple had been arrested by officers of the Aigialeia Crime Investigation and Narcotics Unit, and a case file of a criminal nature was filed against them for drug trafficking and possession.

In the couple’s home, police found and confiscated:

  • 1 kilogram and 112.13 grams of heroin
  • 5.65 grams of cocaine
  • 1 precision digital scale
  • 2 mobile phones and numerous SIM cards
  • €180 in cash
  • Tools for adulterating and portioning heroin into doses.
