Member of the European Parliament, Fidias Panayiotou, provided explanations on Twitter for his visit to Russia during Victory Day.
As he mentioned, he did not attend the grand military parade but went with a different focus in mind. It should be noted that Fidias initially stated that he was going to Russia “for an adventure.”
“My position on the war in Ukraine has always been clear. The EU should not only focus on sending as many weapons as possible to the Ukrainian army, as this strategy will not end the war. On the contrary, after three years of following this tactic, it has not helped bring the conflict to an end, but it has only resulted in more deaths of Ukrainian and Russian soldiers, as well as civilian casualties. This approach also increases the chances of a nuclear war,” he stated.
“The EU must focus on diplomacy; it must be the peacemaker in this war. I don’t want to be like politicians who only talk and do nothing. I want to put my ideas into practice. Of course, I didn’t speak to Putin because I’m not that important, but along with other members of the European Parliament who are also here in Moscow, we met with the President of the State Duma,” he added.

Adonis to Fidias: Do you hold the same position on Turkey’s invasion of Cyprus?
The video was shared by Adonis Georgiadis, who questioned Fidias on whether he holds the same opinion regarding Turkey’s invasion of Cyprus.
