Crime in Larissa: 21-year-old kills his mother after an argument

Residents of Leionidou Street in Larissa were shocked by the murder that was uncovered on Monday afternoon. The victim is 52-year-old Louisa Rini, who was killed by her own son.

According to her neighbours, everything began at 5:00 a.m. that morning, when they heard the mother and son arguing. A short time later, they heard the 52-year-old woman calling for help, upon with her son allegedly killed her as a result of the argument. Authorities are still searching for the cause of the argument that led to the fatal confrontation.

Afterwards, the 21-year-old tried to find a way to dispose of the body. At around 7:00 p.m. yesterday her enlisted the help of his 22-year-old cousin, and together they attempted to move the body of the victim, which they had wrapped in a sheet and a quilt.

When they were exiting the residence with the woman’s body, however, they were noticed by the neighbours who- suspecting what had happened- alerted the police. The police quickly arrived at the scene and arrested the two young men.

According to reports, the 21-year-old confessed to the murder, but authorities are still investigating the sequence of events- including the cause of the argument- that culminated in the tragic killing. Police have also seized a knife that was found discarded in a bin, and are examining whether it was the weapon used to kill the 52-year-old woman.

Neighbours who heard reports have testified, attempting the shed light on the reasons behind the murder. A witness who overhead the incident said that they heard a single cry of “help” at around 5:00 a.m., and then nothing else.

“I hear a noise, and I went outside and saw the police. I found out later that there had been a murder. I didn’t really know the family. Because I have a dog, I would see them passing by with their dogs. She was a quiet, calm woman, who never caused trouble. I was saddened to hear that a mother died at her son’s hands… I got chills,” a local resident said.

Another neighbour said “Someone called, Dias [police unit] came, and they were arrested. They found [the young men] straight away.”
