Passenger threatens commuter with knife on Athens Metro

Panic broke out on the Athens Metro on Monday morning when a passenger reportedly pulled a folding knife during an argument over seating. The incident occurred around 8:30am on a train near the Anthoupoli station.

Witnesses say the altercation escalated quickly, prompting commuters to activate the emergency brake.


According to reports, the suspect was seen threatening another man and holding what appeared to be a folding knife. Police responded swiftly, arresting the man at Peristeri police station after removing him from the train.


Metro staff and eyewitnesses emphasised that such incidents are becoming increasingly common, with employees and passengers alike facing frequent threats.
