69-year-old pedestrian fatally hit by motorcycle in Nicosia

In a new fatal road collision that occurred at around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 16 April 2025, Michail Christoforou, aged 69, from Agrokipia, lost his life.

According to the information under investigation, at the time of the incident, a 37-year-old man was riding a motorcycle on Limassol Avenue in Strovolos when—under circumstances currently being examined—he struck and injured the 69-year-old pedestrian, who was reportedly attempting to cross the road at a pedestrian crossing.

The 69-year-old was transported by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where the attending doctor pronounced him dead.

The 37-year-old motorcyclist was also injured and taken by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where he received first aid. He was subsequently arrested to assist with the investigation.

A preliminary breathalyser test on the motorcyclist returned a zero reading for alcohol.

Nicosia Traffic Police are continuing their inquiries.
