The court has approved an amendment to the indictment against monks Nektarios and Porphyrios following a request from the Prosecution.
Specifically, the prosecution’s representative requested a modification of charge 16, altering the amount involved from €196,000 to €63,568. Additionally, the prosecution requested the suspension of charge 5 (theft by a representative), which concerned only Nektarios. Lastly, charge 25 was added to the indictment.
Following the hearing, the monks’ defence lawyer, Efstathios Efstathiou, stated: “Today, the prosecution amended the indictment and suspended the most serious charge it originally contained. Despite the changes, we continue to plead not guilty. My clients are innocent, and this will be proven during the trial.”
The court has scheduled the next hearing for 10 April at 09:00.
The accused monks will remain free under the same conditions as previously set by the court.
