Limassol GH outpatient clinics without doctors from Wednesday

Date:

The Pancyprian Union of Government Doctors (PASYKI) is taking measures, citing “unacceptable working conditions” caused by construction work at Limassol General Hospital. From tomorrow, Wednesday, 12 March, doctors from the affected specialties will cease providing services at the outpatient clinics, according to the union.

In a statement issued today, PASYKI reiterated concerns it had raised last week regarding the construction work, which it claimed was taking place “literally above the heads of doctors and patients, causing anxiety and discomfort.”

In its previous announcement, PASYKI noted that noise and pollution from the construction work were negatively impacting the hospital environment, making it difficult for doctors to concentrate and provide the necessary care to patients, who in turn “suffer from the noise and disruption.”

At the same time, the union criticised the State Health Services Organisation (OKYPY) for its “inability to act proactively and manage the arising issues,” as well as for its “lack of planning and failure to consider the needs and safety of hospital staff and patients.”
