The re-election of Greece’s Spyros Kapralos at the presidency of the European Olympic Committees and the election of a new Executive Committee, as well as the official assumption of the hosting of the 4th European Games by Constantinople in 2027, marked the 54th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees held in Frankfurt from February 28 to March 1.
The Cyprus Olympic Committee was represented by President Georgios Chrysostomou and Treasurer Yiannos Fotiou, a press release by the COC said on Monday.
Speaking after his re-election, Kapralos thanked the representatives of the European Olympic Committees, for his re-election for another four years. “Your support is a great honour for me. We have much to do together”, he added.
During the proceedings of the General Assembly, the EOC, the Municipality of Constantinople and the Turkish Olympic Committee signed the “host city” contract for the 4th European Games Constantinople 2027.
The 55th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees will be held in Budapest, Hungary in October 2026.
