The programme “FIBA EuroBasket 2025, Goes to Schools” replaces the the “Junior NBA” programme that the Cyprus Basketball Federation run from 2019 until 2024 in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth.

It is noted that this year is a landmark year for Cypriot basketball as Cyprus will host for the first time ever the European Basketball Championship in 2025 along with co-hosts Finland, Poland and Latvia. Six national teams will gather in Limassol in the summer to compete in Group C of the Championship.

The Cyprus Basketball Federation, in collaboration with FIBA Europe, proceeded with the creation of the “FIBA EuroBasket 2025, Goes to Schools” program, on the occasion of the historic year of Eurobasket 2025 in Cyprus.

President of the Cyprus Basketball Federation, Andreas Mouzourides, referred to the “EuroBasket 2025, Goes to Schools”,  project, noting that the programme enters schools with various actions.

During the press conference draws were also held to determine which national team out of the 24 participating in the final phase of EuroBasket 2025 will be represented by each school participating in the programme.

The aim, he said, is to convey the message that “the biggest sports event is coming to Cyprus, for all to embrace it, to experience it, to enjoy this unique journey, to be able to see the matches that will be held in Limassol.”

He noted that those who will be volunteers will have a unique experience.

“Those of you who can sign up as volunteers, you will have a unique opportunity, it will be something that in 20, in 30, in 40 years, when you think about it, you will say that you were present too in this great historical event, which marked Cypriot sports and was a great historical opportunity,” he said.
