President travels to Brussels for EU summit

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides will travel to Brussels tonight to participate in the extraordinary European Council summit, which will take place tomorrow, Thursday, March 6.

A statement from the Presidency said that the EU leaders will discuss the developments in Ukraine and the current situation in the country during their midday summit, with the online participation of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

A working lunch will follow, during which issues related to the defence of the EU and the need for greater strategic autonomy of the Union will be discussed.

Before the ’27’ summit on Thursday morning, the President of the Republic will participate in the summit of the European People’s Party.

The President will be accompanied by Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, the Director of the President’s office, Victoras Papadopoulos and other officials.
