Cyprus’ participation in the EGYPES 2025 was successful

Date:

Cyprus’ participation in the international energy exhibition EGYPES 2025, which took place in Cairo from 17 to 19 February, was a successful and productive one, the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry says in a press release.

It adds that on the opening day, the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry George Papanastasiou signed, in the presence of the Presidents of Cyprus and Egypt, key agreements for the development of the “Aphrodite” gas field and the fields in Block 6, of the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus.

“These agreements mark a significant milestone in Cyprus’s strategy for the natural gas sector, strengthening the country’s role in shaping the energy map of the Eastern Mediterranean,” it says.

During EGYPES 2025, the Minister also took part in a Ministerial Roundtable Discussion on energy security and industrial competitiveness. He also held substantive and high-level meetings on the next steps both with the leading International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in the Cyprus EEZ and with companies that expressed strong interest in investing and establishing their presence in the energy sector in Cyprus, the press release says.

Moreover, the Minister of Energy gave interviews to Egyptian and international media outlets, analyzing the latest developments, as well as Cyprus’ future plans in the energy sector.

“Cyprus’ strong presence in EGYPES 2025 confirms the increasingly central role of our country in the Eastern Mediterranean, in the energy sector and strengthens its position in the global energy dialogue,” the statement says.
