An escape attempt occurred at the Limassol District Court on Tuesday morning (21/1).
According to police, the suspect is a 39-year-old man who had been arrested for the burglary of a restaurant in Ayios Tychonas.
Under circumstances that are under investigation, the 39-year-old attempted to escape from the Limassol court but was quickly subdued and re-arrested by police officers.
It is noted that the Limassol CID had arrested the suspect under a judicial warrant in connection with the burglary of a restaurant and the theft of property worth approximately €2,000, as well as the theft of a coin-operated machine valued at €3,000 from a car park in the Ayios Tychonas area. The incidents occurred on 20 January 2025 and also involved causing malicious damage.
During on-site investigations at the scene by Limassol CID officers, evidence against the 39-year-old suspect emerged.
The arrest was part of an investigation into offences including burglary, theft, malicious damage, and property theft. The suspect, a 39-year-old man, was detained yesterday evening under a judicial warrant and is being held in custody.
The arrest followed a complaint lodged on 20/01/2025 by the owner of a recreation centre, which had been undergoing renovations. During the burglary, property worth approximately €2,000 was stolen, and damage to ventilation equipment worth around €1,000 was caused.
The 39-year-old suspect is also being investigated in connection with a second case reported on the same day, involving the theft of a coin-operated machine worth €3,000 from a public car park near the aforementioned premises.
