Nationwide air raid alert in Ukraine – Missile threat

Date:

Ukrainian authorities declared a nationwide air raid alert this morning due to cruise missiles threatening parts of Ukrainian territory, following a significant attack by Kyiv’s forces on Russian regions.

The Air Force, via its Telegram account, reported that missiles are heading towards Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky in central Ukraine, as well as the regions of Chernihiv (north), Poltava (central), and Mykolaiv (south).

A “group of cruise missiles” was also detected heading towards Kyiv, the same source added.

Nearly three years after Russia’s invasion, Kyiv and Moscow have intensified their attacks in recent months, aiming to improve their positions ahead of Donald Trump’s return to the White House next Monday.

The U.S. president-elect has stated his intention to work on ending the war immediately upon taking office.

Ukraine announced it conducted its “largest attack” of the war on Monday night into Tuesday, targeting military and industrial facilities in Russian regions.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, this attack involved six U.S.-made ATACMS missiles and six British Storm Shadow missiles. The ministry assured that all missiles were intercepted without casualties.
