Νicosia to inform Islamabad on death of Pakistani national

Νicosia is to inform Islamabad through diplomatic channels, competent sources told CNA, regarding the case of the death of a 24-year-old man from Pakistan.

The same sources told CNA that Pakistan has asked to be informed about the case, and that information “will be duly provided through diplomatic channels”, based on the information available so far.

The man had been located dead at a field in Nicosia on January 6 and police had said that from first examining the body on the scene the coroner had initially ruled out foul play. However during an autopsy carried out 4 days later a bullet was discovered which was later connected to an incident between police and unknown perpetrators in three different vehicles, near the buffer zone at Potamia village, in Nicosia district, which involved shots fired by the police.

Police are further investigating the incident.
