Members of the Bicycle Police arrested a 27-year-old man shortly before 2:00 p.m. yesterday, Monday [14/07], after stolen property was found in his possession.
The theft occurred earlier that day, specifically around 12:45 p.m., at a beach in Limassol.
According to a complaint filed by a 68-year-old woman, she had gone swimming at the beach and left her bag on the shore. The bag contained two mobile phones, a wallet with €200 in cash, bank cards, and clothing. Upon finishing her swim and returning to the beach around 1:15 p.m., she realised her belongings had been stolen.
The woman reported suspicions against an unknown individual she had seen near the spot where her bag was left at approximately 12:45 p.m. She provided a description of the suspect, and members of the Bicycle Police who responded to the scene located a 27-year-old man in the Epichosi area who matched the description.
In his possession, police found the two mobile phones, €140 in cash, and several packs of cigarettes. Additional searches in the area led to the discovery of the remaining stolen items, discarded in an open space.
The 27-year-old was arrested by the Bicycle Police and, during questioning, reportedly admitted to the theft.
The Limassol Central Police Station is investigating the case.
