5.3 earthquake off Antalya felt across Cyprus

Seismic activity in eastern Mediterranean

At 12:21 local time on Monday 8 December 2025, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck the Gulf of Antalya on Turkey’s southern coast.

The Department of Geological Survey announced the epicentre lay 255 km north-west of Polis Chrysochous, at a depth of 85 km.

The tremor was strongly felt in Turkey and perceptible throughout the eastern Mediterranean, including Cyprus.

No damage or injuries have been reported so far.
