48 high-risk roads identified – Police increase measures

Date:

The Cyprus Police has identified 48 locations across the island where a high frequency of traffic collisions has been recorded, as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety.

According to authorities, the dangerous roads list has been compiled following a detailed analysis of traffic collision data from 2023 to 2025, covering fatal, serious and other types of road accidents.

The identified points are distributed across all districts, with 19 in Nicosia, 8 in Limassol, 14 in Larnaca, 5 in Paphos and 2 in Famagusta.

Data-driven approach to road safety

Police said each high-risk location was classified based on the number of collisions recorded annually in each area.

The mapping forms part of continuous actions aimed at improving traffic safety and implementing targeted measures to prevent further accidents.

Authorities confirmed that over 40 key danger points have been identified on the road network, with the total reaching 48 based on updated data analysis.

Increased enforcement at accident hotspots

At these dangerous locations, police are applying increased monitoring and enforcement measures to reduce the risk of collisions and improve driver compliance.

Relevant government departments have also been informed in order to carry out any necessary infrastructure or safety interventions.
