A 24-year-old man has been arrested by the police in connection with a new case of possession of child sexual abuse material, currently under investigation by the Cybercrime Subdivision.
According to a statement from the Police Communication Department, the investigation began following a tip-off received via Europol, indicating that a user of an online application had uploaded a video file containing child sexual abuse material.
Subsequent investigations by the Cybercrime Subdivision led to the identification of the 24-year-old suspect. A court-issued arrest warrant was obtained, and the suspect was apprehended by police officers shortly before noon on Sunday.
During the arrest, a mobile phone was found in his possession, which has been seized for forensic examination.
The 24-year-old is currently in custody, while police continue their investigation into possession and access to child pornography material.
