Police investigate hit-and-run collision

Cyprus Police have arrested two men aged 31 and 23 in connection with a road collision and alleged abandonment of the scene following an incident on the Rizoelia–Kalo Chorio motorway.

The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation into the crash, which occurred on 6 May, according to a police statement.

Suspects identified through investigation

Police said evidence was secured against a 31-year-old Greek national, who allegedly rented the vehicle involved, and a 23-year-old Greek Cypriot man, who is believed to have been driving the car at the time of the collision.

The two suspects were arrested under court warrants to assist with investigations.

Court appearance expected

Both men are expected to appear before the Larnaca District Court for the issuance of detention orders.

According to information cited by CNA, investigators are examining offences related to negligent and reckless acts, causing actual bodily harm and abandoning the scene of a traffic accident.

Investigation ongoing

The case is being handled by the Aradippou Police Station.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of the collision or the condition of any injured persons.
