19-year-old arrested after Oslo shopping centre shooting

Suspect detained with no victims

Norwegian police arrested a 19-year-old man on Monday 8 December 2025 as the sole suspect in a shooting at Storo shopping centre, Oslo’s largest retail complex.

The incident occurred around 11:00 local time amid the Christmas shopping rush. The suspect fired one shotgun round into the ceiling in a communal area.

Police operations chief Tor Gretum told reporters that no evidence suggests an attempt to injure anyone. The suspect called police himself before firing.

Officers recovered a shotgun, ammunition, a baseball bat and a knife from the scene. The man has no prior criminal record and appears to have acted alone.

Evacuation and swift response

Shoppers fled the centre as heavily armed police, multiple patrol cars and a helicopter arrived quickly. Authorities searched nearly the entire facility and found no wounded people.

The centre reopened later that morning, with a small security perimeter remaining in place.
