15 years without Andis Hadjicostis

Date:

Today marks 15 years since the passing of Andis Hadjicostis, a man whose name is synonymous with the word “vision.” Andis was a highly cultivated individual, deeply passionate about poetry and devoted to innovation.

Fluent in three foreign languages (English, French, and German), he held degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of Southampton in England, graduating with distinction. He worked as an economic analyst at the Directorate-General of the European Commission in Brussels (1992–1993) and served as a project manager at Kienbaum Consultants International in Düsseldorf, Germany (1992–1993).

Upon returning to Cyprus, he became the marketing director of Dias Publishing House and Sigma TV (1994–1997). Additionally, he was a founding and managerial member of IMH Creative Solutions Consulting (1996–2010) and served as business development director (1997–1999). He went on to lead the Dias Group from 1999 to 2002, eventually becoming the CEO of Sigma TV and Dias Publishing House.

Andis also participated on the boards of public companies both in Cyprus and abroad. He was a member of the European Publishers Association, a board member, and an ambassador for the prestigious international television awards, the Emmys.

He was among the first to recognise the power of new media and the potential of the internet for information dissemination, investing with vision in the promises of the future. Tragically, his untimely death left many of his bold and pioneering plans unfinished. Nevertheless, he was the one who laid the foundation for everything that shapes our current media landscape, despite the crisis and its devastating impacts.
