UN Under-SecGen to visit Nicosia, Athens, and Ankara this week

United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo will be visiting Cyprus, Athens, and Ankara this coming week, Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq said during a press briefing at the organization’s headquarters in New York. DiCarlo will meet with the Greek Cypriot leader and the Turkish Cypriot leader on February 10, to discuss the path forward in the framework of an informal meeting in a broader format, Haq said. In addition, DiCarlo will focus on the work of the Secretary-General and will meet with representatives of the civil society, including youth groups and women’s associations. Following Cyprus, DiCarlo will travel to Athens on February 12 and Ankara on February 13 to discuss the Cyprus issue, as well as other significant regional and global developments, the spokesman said.
